LinkedIn New Headquarters & Shoreline Commons Mixed-Use
LinkedIn and SyWest are developing this site in Mountain View’s Shoreline Gateway area as LinkedIn’s new, 1.2-million-square-feet headquarters. With a mix of uses in 6 buildings, the development is pursuing LEED Platinum and net zero energy.
Today’s tech sector is trading gridlock traffic and insulated suburban campuses for a new model: dynamic mixed-use town centers where workers can intermingle with the public, and exchange single-car commutes for public transit and bicycle lanes.
This new, mixed-use headquarters campus for LinkedIn will feature over 1.8 million square feet of office, retail, recreation, entertainment, dining, and green open spaces organized around a pedestrian-oriented street. The social networking company teamed with SyWest Development, owner of a nearby 17-acre cinema complex, to create this new mixed-use destination with inviting outdoor spaces, active shopping and entertainment opportunities, and advanced energy-efficient offices.
Brightworks was contracted to manage the LEED certification program for the six buildings on the campus and design the campus’ net-zero energy strategy.
Being planned and designed in accordance with the Guiding Principles of the North Bayshore Precise Plan (NBPP), Shoreline Commons will include ecosystem enhancements, improved transit connection and open space, highly sustainable buildings, and active retail and entertainment uses.
The six buildings on the site will exceed the City of Mountain View’s Green Building Ordinance by committing to LEED Platinum certification as well as net zero energy.
LinkedIn will construct a series of community benefits around the development, including a pedestrian and bike bridge across Highway 101, local transportation improvements to prevent potential traffic congestion, and renovations to the local Mountain View Public Library.
Most parking will be underneath the development, allowing easy pedestrian and bicycle access to the 240,000 square feet of retail space.
