Ilana's Role at Brightworks
With 15 years of experience in a wide variety of energy efficiency, sustainability, HVAC and other related fields, Ilana Cember has deep expertise in guiding clients to reduce energy usage, carbon emissions, and costs while improving overall facility operations. They have worked in many different industries, with a focus on healthcare, commercial, and K-12. At Brightworks, Ilana provides technical oversight and guidance for greenhouse gas emissions calculations, decarbonization and energy efficiency planning, engineering studies, Level 1 and 2 energy audits, and commissioning for new and existing buildings. They provide expert consulting at both building-level and portfolio-level to holistically look at everything from individual HVAC systems to overall company processes. Previously they also provided ongoing strategic energy management planning for building owners and operators; auditing and compliance planning for Washington Clean Buildings Performance Standard; and completed demand-side energy efficiency program and modeling for several city energy plans. They hold Professional Engineering licenses in multiple states, in addition to Certified Energy Management and LEED AP BD+C certificates.

In her most recent post before joining Brightworks, Ilana built the standards and deliverables for Washington’s Clean Buildings Performance Standard (CBPS/HB 1257), primarily ASHRAE level 2 energy audits and comprehensive Energy Management and O&M Plans. Previously, Ilana also completed the demand-side energy efficiency program and modeling for several city energy plans. They hold professional engineering licenses in multiple states, in addition to Certified Energy Management (CEM) and LEED AP BD+C accreditation.
