In Jessie’s role as GGLO’s Embodied Carbon Specialist, she ran a firm-wide embodied carbon benchmarking study to create embodied carbon baselines for different building typologies. This involved iterative whole building lifecycle assessments (WBLCAs) on all GGLO projects to inform structural system and enclosure selection, identify material reuse potential, and recommend optimized materials. Jessie also co-led a Design Equity Initiative to promote a more equitable design process and built environment. These two efforts culminated in the integration of low-carbon materials as the basis of design for office-wide specifications and critical revisions to project process and delivery to improve low-carbon outcomes.
