Melanie's Role at Brightworks

Melanie Bontusa is Brightworks’ Residential Lead with more than 17 years of experience managing diverse green building and sustainability planning projects. In addition to multifamily residential sustainability programs, ranging from high-rise residential towers to mid-rise apartment buildings, Melanie has also worked extensively in the higher education and healthcare industries.

Melanie served as lead sustainability consultant for the UC Riverside Carbon Neutrality Plan and is serving as lead sustainability consultant for Brookfield Properties’ Pier 70 and 5M developments in San Francisco. Her work on large-scale developments includes LEED for Neighborhood Development, the Living Community Challenge, and others.

Within Brightworks’ resiliency practice, Melanie has adapted City of Boston and Red Cross standards to help private developers integrate measurable strategies into their developments. She has also piloted the RELi resilience rating system in private developments.
